The Colombian singer/songwriter
was nominated for Best International Male Artist
of the year in the Pop/Rock category. The 12
annual ECHO Awards will be held in Berlin, Germany
on March 12th and will be broadcast on RTL.
The ECHO Awards are based on
votes by the recording academy in Germany and
are considered the most prestigious. The other
nominees in this category are Robbie Williams,
James Blunt, Jack Johnson and Michael Buble.
In
Germany the album "Mi Sangre" has
sold more than 250,000 copies and the single
"La Camisa Negra" more than 200,000
copies. Both the album and the single have occupied
the number 1 spot on the charts.
Juanes is the first artist that
by singing solely in Spanish has managed to
reach record sales and chart positions in Germany
in the past 10 years.
The album "Mi Sangre"
has sold more than 2.1 million copies worldwide.
According to Billboard Magazine Mi Sangre is
among the top 10 in sales after a record 70
weeks since its launch.
Juanes will tour Germany for
the second time on the 14th of March 2006 and
will visit Manheim, Stuttgart, Munich, Trier,
Freiburg, Frankfurt and Düsseldorf.
The 28th of January kicks off
the start of the second leg of the USA tour
with a show at the Atlantic Bank Arena in Sunrise,
Florida. The second part of this tour will add
22 more concerts which brings the total to 54
concerts total in the USA for the MI SANGRE
TOUR.
This week the single "La
Camisa Negra" is Number 1 in France after
remaining in the top five sales charts during
the holiday season.
In
his last 6 years as a solo artist, the Colombian
rocker Juanes has sold more than 4.5 million
albums and has received 12 Latin Grammy's, 6
Billboard Awards, 8 Latin MTV Awards and 7 Premios
lo Nuestro Awards, positioning him as the Latin
artist with the most international awards.
