performs during “Cingular Sounds: Live”
concert series at the Wiltern Theater in Los
Angeles.
Daddy
Yankee, one of the nation’s top Latino
entertainers in the Hispanic music industry’s
hottest genre: reggaetón — added
yet another musical element to Cingular Wireless’
repertoire of mobile telephone features.
This
past Thursday, Cingular kicked-off the “by
invitation only” CSL series in Los Angeles,
which featured performances of his reggaetón
hits Gasolina and Lo que pasó, pasó
by Grammy Award winner Daddy Yankee and a special
guest appearance by The Pussycat Dolls, whose
singles “Don’t Cha” and “Stickwitu”
have become major pop hits.
Cingular
Sounds: Live (CSL) is a unique concert series
designed to generate exclusive content specifically
for the mobile environment. It was the first
in a series of regular concert events scheduled
for throughout the country, in which the video-taped
footage from each event will be used as part
of the company’s exclusive offering to
its customers. Utilizing the company’s
soon-to-be introduced, on-demand streaming video
service, Cingular Video, customers will be able
to use their 3G-compatible wireless phones to
watch concert highlights just days after the
live concert event.
“Showing
video content on wireless devices is not necessarily
new anymore, but what makes ‘Cingular
Sounds: Live’ so unique is that we aren’t
chasing music concerts to get this footage.
Instead, we are actually creating these mobile
music events for the sole purpose of making
the content available for our all of our customers
to access and enjoy on their wireless phones,”
said David Garver, executive director of segment
marketing and sponsorships, Cingular Wireless.
CSL
is the latest development in the company’s
successful Cingular Sounds program. The creation
of the live concert series demonstrates Cingular’s
leadership in wireless music innovation, as
well as the natural synergies between wireless
and music.
“With
the advancement of wireless networks and handset
technologies, the cell phone is becoming a true
entertainment device. Innovative programs like
Cingular Sounds Live allow us to address the
needs of our diverse consumers who want to stay
connected to their lives – and their music
– while mobile,” added Garver.
