Eric
Francis Torres Jimenez better known as Eric
Torres in the music industry was
born in San Jose, Costa Rica. Eric's interest
in music began at an early age and was inspired
and motivated by his father Marcos Torres. At
that time his father was the lead singer for
the "Saint Francis Orchestra"
Eric's
enthusiasm and interest during his teenage years
lead him to participate for the first time as
a lead singer with the group called "Matiz"
of the teacher "Samuel Fonseca”.
Eric
became a very popular singer and his hard work
payed off when he was called to be the lead
singer for "LOS HICSOS BAND" back
in the 80’s in Costa Rica.
After
performing 2 years of sensational experience
with the "LOS HICSOS" another big
door and opportunity opens up for Eric. This
was to be part of one of the hottest groups
in Costa Rica back in the 80’s & 90’s,
"La Empresa". A single song sang by
Eric for the first time was the number one hit
in Costa Rica "Latino Soy".
With
"La Empresa" Eric recorder several
albums that included hits such as "Play
Boy", "Ella es", "Eres",
and the number one hit in Costa Rica "Latino
Soy"
Eric's dreams were unlimited therefore he made
the decision to expand his career by taking
a challenging decision to travel to the United
States where he moves to Los Angeles, California.
His
first night job in California was at the "Costa
Rica Restaurant" in Anaheim. Fernando Echandi,
teacher and owner of the popular restaurant
then opened his doors to offer him a job as
a singer in his band. Mr. Echandi was a great
influence to Eric and also pursuaded him to
sing in all different levels and styles of music
which made him the professional singer he is
today.
Eric
knew he wanted more, he loved music and he wanted
to make a huge change in his musical style,
that’s when he was introduced to a "Salsa
Band" called "Latin Fusion Band"...
Pure Salsa.
In
1993 he was given the opportunity to be the
lead singer among other great singers in this
band. He found his own style in singing romantic
Salsa songs.
In
a short period of time Eric's name became popular
among Salsa musicians, music directors and recording
studios. Earning him contracts to sing as a
back up singer for many well know salsa singers
including Domingo Quiñones, Johnny Rivera,
Kevin Cevallo, Michael Stuart, Tito Nieves,
Gilberto Santa Rosa, and Celia Cruz amongst
others.
Eric
decides to make an interval to prepare and develop
his talent singing English and Italian music.
By now Eric’s voice acquired a versatility
style singing at different levels with this
unique voice and tone. This was a great benefit
for him since he obtained contracts to work
in recording studios and radio commercials singing
for top named companies including "AT&T",
"Carl’s Jr", "Toyota"
and many other commercials that were played
in popular english and spanish radio along with
TV stations.
Thanks
to all this success Eric was ready to take the
next step in the making of his own CD. His CD
was completed in 2004 at "Ecuasound Studios"
under the supervision of Ivan Castro, friend
and manager. His CD "Tu Cariño Se
Me Va" was released October 2004.
During
the same time he was a backup singer for other
famous artists such as Alvaro Torres, Ricardo
Montaner, Carlos Ponce, Obie Bermudez and is
currently on a year long tour in Mexico with
Joan Sebastian.
