Actress and singer, Jennifer Lopez was born in The Bronx, New York on 24 July 1970.

Jennifer Lopez initially built up a career as an actress before emerging as a pop star.

Her major breakthrough came in 1990 as one of the 'Fly Girls' in the comedy sketch show 'In Living Color'.

J-Lo's first major movie was 'Money Train', which she followed up with a role in 'My Family, Mi Familia'.

Jennifer Lopez was then cast as Latin singer Selena Quintanilla in the biopic, Selena. Her performance led to her role opposite George Clooney in the excellent film, 'Out of Sight' and she became the highest paid Latin actress in history.

J-Lo's commercial success as a singer began in 1999 with the album 'On the 6'. Jennifer Lopez followed up with 'Waiting For Tonight', which featured a duet with the man who was to become her future husband, Marc Anthony. By 2005 J-Lo had sold over 35 million records worldwide.

Jennifer Lopez has regularly topped magazine polls as the world's sexiest woman, and she has not been short of love interest.

Having had a failed marriage to waiter Ojani Noa, J-Lo had a relationship with rapper Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs, now known as Diddy. They split up early in 2001 and later that year she married dancer Cris Judd. It wasn't to last.

Jennifer Lopez had a long relationship, under the glare of publicity with Ben Affleck, with whom she co-starred in 'Jersey Girl' and 'Gigli'. But but that failed at the final hurdle when they cancelled their planned wedding. In June 2004 J-Lo married the afore-mentioned Marc Anthony.

In May 2005, Jennifer Lopez starred in Monster-in-Law, which topped the US box office charts. It co-starred Jane Fonda.

Jennifer Lopez has interests outside her films and music, including a clothing range and a couple of perfumes.

Lopez came 24th in the Forbes list of the most powerful celebrities 2005 - just four spots behind her ex, Diddy.
