He has an extensive jazz, classical and Latin performance background in South America, Europe and the United States including: Concerts with: the Boston Super Band and Tito Puente in Boston Massachusetts; Orchestra Fantacia of and in Boston, Massachusetts; Concert in the 5th AV with Jaime Valles Latin Jazz band; and the Universitarian Symphonic Orchestra (under the direction of Rene Rojas) at the Aula Magna of the Universidad Central of Venezuela (Gilberto being one of the founding members of the Orchestra). Leader of Guapacha, a Venezuelan Band founded by Gilberto Torres and specializing in Latin Jazz and Fusion of Afro-Venezuelan Music, he conducts the group and is also the flute player and vocalist. Gilberto Torres has had the honor to be invited to Cuba where he performed at The Jazz Plaza Festival in La Havana and played with many great musicians such as Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Arturo Sandoval, Irakere and Emeliano Salvador. In Venezuela he has been a part of several famous bands such as Cimarron, Carlos Rojas, Madera, Melenbe, Grupo Caracas, Sandungueros and Joe y su Charanga. Then Gilberto Torres continued his musical career in Germany at the "Rhinishe Musikschule" in the city of Cologne. There he performed with several known latin bands such as Roberto Blanco, Nina Muscovorik, Conection Latina, Salsa Picante, Rumbara, Kinbiza and Javier Plaza. He was also a musical director for Die Toten Diktatoren Theater where he then went on tour to Spain, Holland, Turkey, Italy, Belguim and all through Europe. Gilberto Torres y Guapacha has toured through many parts of the world. But he now resides in Los Angeles, California, USA where he performed on stage with local salsa groups like Son Mayor,Candi Sosa, Charanga Cubana, Susie Hanson and such notables as Luis Enrique, Thalia, Justo Almario, Alex Acuna, Jaime Valle, Hilton Ruiz, Carlos Guedes,Allan Phillips, Robert Incelli, Mili, Strumz & Farah, Alvaro Torres, Elyan, Dr Dre, Jesus Enrique, Cachao and Albita. Along with the talent to arrange and produce music, Gilberto's professional experience has made him known as the music industries top flutist. Gilberto has recorded with many genres of music from Salsa, Cha Cha Cha, Latin Jazz, Boleros, Jazz, Rap, Pop, New Wave and Folkloric Music. He has also recorded CD's with Abancay, Malenbe, Grupo Caracas, Grupo Sandungeros, Grupo Cimarron, Grupo Madera, Alan Phillip, Carlos Guedes, Susie Hansen, Juan Coloner, Robert Incelli, Cesar Benitez, Eliseo Borrero, Tolu, Robert Incelli, Dr Dre, Jimmy Allen, Grupo Yambu, Grupo Arraval, as well as his own CD in 1999 with Guapacha.
